Technical Expertise

Tactiq's highly skilled engineers have the experience and expertise in embedded software and electronics which enable us to quickly design a top level architecture concept. The choice of architecture and programming strategy for defence systems is often vital as the applications can remain in the field for many years and need to be monitored, upgraded and traced at various intervals as the technology and requirements shift. We produce an early concept which enables us to perform modelling and simulation to identify potential issues early and give confidence in both architecture and performance. We then take the product through the development process working closely with the clients' team to ensure the deliverables are met for each of the typical defence gateway stages through to production support.

Risk identification and management in developing military software and military electronics is extremely important. Early identification of project risks, their impact and corresponding prevention and mitigation strategies, is key to ensuring these risks are retired early and deliverables are met.

Track Record

Tactiq has a proven track record in this field, some example projects are shown below:

  • Airbus Transmission Control Unit
  • Tactiq successfully developed a ground breaking digital active noise cancellation system for harsh Defence environments where other leading organisations had failed. The military system cancels both stochastic and predictable noise in real-time whilst improving voice intelligibility. We designed the full architecture, software and electronics and in the early stages of this innovative project, we produced a concept demonstrator to successfully prove our proposal worked.
  • We developed and implemented algorithms working at both Assembler and C language level without the use of an off-the-shelf RTOS to optimise performance in a space and cost critical defence product. Taking this forward we met the demanding criteria including stringent pricing, low power consumption, high performance and very limited space.
  • Tactiq have developed a number of demanding real-time systems for safety critical environments such as Healthcare, Industrial and Automotive. We apply the same stringent disciplines and processes to our defence and military projects with an intelligent, science based methodology combined with the knowledge and experience of real world applications.
